On March 9th, 2015, Honors at UMass Lowell celebrated its 20th anniversary and the recently accredited Honors College celebrated its 1st birthday. The Honors Ambassador Council was joined by the then-Executive Vice Chancellor Jacqueline Moloney (’75, ’92), Dean James Canning, UMass Lowell faculty and staff, and the parents and alumni of the Honors College for a fun-filled evening of food, music, and friends.
Ticket sales and sponsorships directly supported the Honors Library Student Curators and the Honors Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Student Fellows, which allow students to earn $1,000 for 100 hours of dedicated work alongside a faculty or staff mentor for a special project. These students created and presented posters at the UMass Lowell Research Symposium while being given the chance to enhance their resume and advance their level of knowledge within their respective academic disciplines.
In addition to raising over $17,000 in scholarships, the Dr. Eric Sheldon Honors Founder Award and the Dr. Jacqueline Moloney Honors Founder Award were awarded.
